Indeed, veganism is becoming popular day by day due to its life-transforming benefits. Several celebs are encouraging people to turn vegan and to avoid animal consumption. It is no surprise that restaurants are adding vegan meals to their menu and offering multiple options for their customers.
When it comes to sports, athletes preferred going vegan, as this diet makes them strong and boosts immunity. An athlete, Roger Sewell, is the first-ever bilateral above-the-knee blade runner to complete the Ironman World Championships. He swims, rides a bike, and runs without legs from the knee down. He followed a vegan diet and saw positive differences.
In 2018, he started transitioning to a more plant-based diet. Earlier, he used to eat meat and later made the changes to make his body fit.
He constantly eats green, including lots of veggies after workouts. He consistently turned to Vegan’s products that helped him recover better. He was involved with Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), and his life changed forever.
As a kid, he was never active in sports. However, he later got the opportunity to do different sports like wheelchair basketball, swimming, and other sports. After he changed his diet, his training became more intense, and this lowered his chances of injury.
The change in diet has increased his endurance and saw positive results. His legs were amputated before his second birthday. When he was 8-years-old, he and his mom became homeless. Also, when he turned 8, he entered CAF. The organization supported the paralympic swimmer ever since with training, race fees, and travel grants.
He is also an ambassador for CAF and expanded the organization’s presence in the Northeastern US. CAF has raised over $112 million to fulfill over 20,000 requests for athletes with disabilities. He had a strong team in Hawaii to provide emotional support.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, the events were put on hold. However, CAF created a challenge and shared a common purpose to raise funds. The funds are raised to help individuals with challenges to get access to sports equipment. It is an event that encourages people to prioritize mental health when it's greatly needed. He is still training for Tokyo and is preparing for a two-sport attempt at the Paralympics.
Vegetarian is not just a type of diet, but more of a lifestyle. It’s a healthier choice you make for the people, for the animals, and for a better planet
