Vegan Product Sales Increase by 70% Amid the Coronavirus Outbreak

After the coronavirus pandemic has affected the world, it is reported that more people are turning into a vegan.

It has severely affected the restaurants and food industry. Many restaurateurs are finding ways to keep their business running while following the guidelines. While some are believing that the food industry is on the verge of collapse, others have found a new business to survive.

One sector that would particularly grow in the coming years is the vegan industry. Several food places have turned into a completely vegan restaurant and started serving vegan meals to promote veganism.

It is estimated that over one billion people around the world do not eat meat and have banned the usage of animal products in their diet. The food market in several countries like Germany and the United States of America has shown a rise in sales by 65%.

Vegan Products Have Seen a Rise in Sales After Coronavirus Outbreak

It is estimated that the sale of vegan products would reach up to $450 billion in a few years. Food products that are a great alternative to meat have skyrocketed amid the outbreak. The biggest change seen in meat-alternatives was from popular brands like Tofurky and Beyond Meat. CEO of Tofurky, Jaime Athos, said,

“Consumer awareness of the positive social and environmental impacts of plant-based proteins are continuing to grow . . . compounded more recently by the closure of meat production facilities and supply chain disruptions.”

Tofurky, which sells over 30 different plant-based meat alternatives, has revealed to see a 40% increase in the three months. The awareness of health benefits offered by plant-based products has improved the consumer base of the food industry.

The vegan food industry is sure to witness huge gains in the coming years owing to consumer perception towards vegan foods.
