5 Vegetarian Foods That are a Natural Medicine to Treat Cold and Flu

Several vegetarian foods are found to be beneficial n treating cold and flu. So, in case if you have taken medicine, but it is not helping you in cold and flu, try eating vegetarian foods.

Foods like sweet potatoes, carrots, and more contain the right amount of vitamins and minerals to treat cold and cough. Eat them raw or baked but consume them at least once in your regular meal for better health results.

1. Lemon and Ginger Tea

Carrots contain Vitamin C and Vitamin A and help in preventing heart diseases and cancer. It also clears out excess mucus from the body and combats a low mood.

Carrots support the body’s mucous membrane and prevent the bacteria from entering into the body. Prepare a puree or make a soup and consume it when you are sick or feeling low. 

4. Spinach

Spinach is rich in Vitamin K, C, and E. It is sometimes also called a superfood that treats all diseases. Eating it raw or cooked, provides iron and essential nutrients to the body and thus strengthens the overall body’s function.

It fights off infection and re-energizes other antioxidants in the body. Make a spinach soup or sautee it with olive oil to prevent infection.

5. Garlic and Onion

Garlic and Onion are the best infections fighters. They contain antioxidants and sulfur phytochemicals that kills germs in the body.

Garlic has antiviral properties and is a great home remedy for cold and flu. Eating onions and garlic could help you in reducing the cold symptoms and treating our illness completely.
